Vacation Mode & Store Pauses

On BDX Marketplace, seller reliability is paramount. When a seller goes offline, travels, or faces temporary fulfillment delays, incoming orders that sit unfulfilled damage buyer trust and penalize the seller's trust score. BDX Vacation Mode allows sellers to pause active listings instantly, set away banners, and preserve their performance statistics without losing catalog rankings or deleting offers.

1. How Vacation Mode Works

Vacation mode allows you to pause your store's live listings while preserving your offer setup and inventory configuration.

Listing Status During Vacation

  • Vacation Enabled:

    • Live listings are temporarily paused and hidden from catalog search, product hubs, and checkout forms.
    • Direct links to your store display a branded vacation notice rather than an error page.
    • Listings that were already manually paused remain in their manual state.
  • Disabling Vacation Mode:

    • Paused vacation listings automatically resume their active live status when you turn off vacation mode.
    • Drafts and manually paused listings remain untouched.

2. Storefront Banners & Visibility

BDX prevents "ghost listings" where buyers purchase items from away sellers. When vacation mode is active:

  1. Buyer Storefront View (bdx.market/store/{slug}):

    • Displays a top banner: "Seller is currently on vacation."
    • If a return date was configured, displays: "Expected to resume on YYYY-MM-DD."
    • Displays your optional custom vacation message (e.g., "Away for Eid holidays. Auto-delivery items resume shortly!").
    • Direct purchase buttons are disabled for store listings.
  2. Seller Dashboard Alert:

    • An alert banner is displayed across your dashboard: Vacation mode is on — your listings are hidden from buyers.
    • Ensures sellers never forget their store is paused when logging in to view past order history or wallet balances.

3. Open Orders & Active Workspaces

Activating vacation mode affects future checkouts only. Existing active transactions continue under standard marketplace rules:

  • Pending Deliveries: Orders paid prior to activating vacation mode must still be delivered within stated timeframes.
  • Order Messages & Chat: Chat functionality remains active. Sellers can communicate with existing buyers to complete fulfillment.
  • Dispute Resolution: Active disputes require seller responses within 24 hours regardless of vacation mode status. Vacation mode does not grant exemptions from dispute timers.

4. Protecting Your Seller Trust Score

Using Vacation Mode actively protects your BDX Seller Trust Score:

  • Without Vacation Mode: Unattended orders sit past fulfillment thresholds, incurring severe point deductions for slow delivery or unfulfilled orders.
  • With Vacation Mode: No new orders can be placed. Your fulfillment metrics remain protected, preserving your earned trust points until you return.
